More Market News

After snow forced the postponement of the outdoor market planned for last December, Christmas is coming early to Longnor this year. The stalls and entertainments have been re-arranged for the Saturday of the annual Wakes Week, following the Longnor Races. The market, under the name “St. Bartholomew’s Fayre”, will be held in the Market Square in Longnor, between 11.00am and 4.00pm on Saturday 10 September 2011.

Market stalls will be selling local produce and crafts, including candles, toys, cards, cakes, pies / pastries / chutneys and jams, beads and jewellery supplies, books, pet portraits, willow baskets & sculptures, knitted and crocheted goods, bottled beers and more. A few stalls are still available – these can be booked through Gill and Richard, Tel. 01298 83738.

Entertainments will include street theatre by the Longnor Players, music and dance by Wicked Soles and Strings, and performances by local children, as well as a juggler / stilt walker / balloon modeller, bucking bronco ride, and children’s go-karts. Flash & Longnor First Responders and the engine and crew from Longnor Fire Station will also be joining us.

Come and join us for a fun-packed day!

For more information contact Michela Griffith (01298 83276), Gill and Richard Kebble, Sharon Ford or Christine Murray. We need your help to make the market a success – please let us know if you can spare an hour on the day to help set up or with the running of the market.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE HIGH STREET WILL BE CLOSED BETWEEN THE B5053 BUXTON / WARSLOW ROAD AND WINDY RIDGE DURING THE DAY FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL.

There will also be a Christmas Market on Saturday 10 December at St. Bartholomew’s School, Longnor. Last year’s market was very popular, so if you would like to book a stall please call early – Gill and Richard Kebble on 01298 83738.
